Friday night brought out a large crowd to Matt Maeson’s sold out show at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. The show was opened by The Technicolors, who put on a great set and proved to be a great reason to come to the show early. Before the show, there was a line wrapped around the building with fans anxious to get in out of the rain and hear some good music. Matt was fantastic live; even some of his songs that sound more laid back recorded had him dancing around the stage along with the fans in the crowd. After singing a Killers cover with the lead singer of The Technicolors, Matt announced he was going to play a cover of ‘Wonderwall’. The crowd cheered and laughed before the notes of his hit song ‘Cringe’ rang out through the venue, a treat for unassuming fans. Although I just spoiled the fact that he doesn’t actually play wonderwall, Matt is a fantastic performer who you should definitely go see live if he’s playing a show near you. It is a show that definitely will not make you cringe.
