Athens psych-freak-whatever the hell you want to call it veterans Of Montreal swung through Saturn last Thursday as a part of their tour for their forthcoming untitled album due in 2020. Led by the endlessly shapeshifting Kevin Barnes, the band has made a name for themselves based on their spectacle of a live show paired with the bombastic version of pop that they’ve played across the country for nearly two decades. Saturn quickly became a dance party with costumed audience-members losing their minds to songs that spanned their entire discography. It’s nearly impossible to sum up the insanity of an Of Montreal show; featuring drag, lasers, furries, dancers, and intense sing-alongs, it’s a live set that simply can’t be missed if it comes to your city. While the largest crowd response came to songs from their seminal album Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?, the atmosphere was on fire for the entire set as Barnes noted often that this was the most enthusiastic show of the tour.
