Hailing from Portland, Oregon Bootstraps is the project of Jordan Beckett, an American singer-songwriter and musical genius. Beckett grew up in the Portland music scene where he would often spend his days going to show after show including Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, and Elliot Smith, whom he also draws inspiration from. One of his close friends had given him Lucinda Williams album Car Wheels on a Gravel Road which really inspired him to start writing music. It wasn’t until his college years though when he would really start diving deep into making music. While in college Beckett was also a baseball player until he got sidelined for an injury, which gave him more time to pick up and learn the guitar. It was sort of a blessing in disguise. Though living in Portland really jumpstarted his inspiration into making music, it wasn’t until he moved to Los Angeles that things really started to take off for him. Once in LA, Beckett was approached by friend who wanted him to write music for the film Take Me Home, so he did so and the film ended up winning best music in a film at the Nashville Film Festival in 2011. Beckett would end up releasing his debut album Bootstraps in 2014 which featured some of his friends Dave Quon and Nathan Warkentin of We Barbarians. Songs from the album like “Guiltfree”, “Forty-Five” and “Revel” were featured on TV shows like Parenthood and Suits. All of this lead Beckett to be named Amazons Rising Star which then lead him to play the Way Over Yonder Festival in Santa Monica and even be featured in Rolling Stone. Beckett was just getting started though. In 2016 Beckett would release his second studio album Homage which was an album of reinterpreted cover songs. This album sent him into even more stardom as his cover of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” was featured on the coveted shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Supergirl, and even in various ads.

Beyond TV, his cover of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” appeared in the film Power Rangers. A year later Beckett would release an EP titled To Each His Own, which even caught the eye of Taylor Swift. Beckett is set to release his third album titled Demo Love on October 18th and he recently released the first single off of that album called “Evergreen” which is a haunting tune that will give you chills when you listen to it, much like most of his stellar music. Demo Love is the perfect fall album full of songs to listen to that will make you feel at ease. Bootstraps is quickly making a name for himself and you definitely don’t want to miss out on the amazing journey and everything that Jordan Beckett has to offer!
