The Austin City Limits Music Festival is coming up in October with two weekends of music and festivities. Weekend One will take place on October 4-6 and Weekend Two the following weekend of the 11th-13th. With headlining artists with big-names such as Guns N’ Roses, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and more, it’s easy to miss some of the smaller names towards the bottom of the bill. Here are some up-and-coming artists you should be sure to check out while at the festival this year:

Briston Maroney

Briston Maroney is a 21-year-old from Tennessee, who played SXSW for the first time in 2019 and it will be his first year on the ACL lineup. Following a year of opening up for several different artists (Liz Cooper & The Stampede, Wallows in Europe), Briston has cultivated a well-deserved following. His music is described as “vulnerable and empathetic, but balanced out with just the right amount of conviction.” He has so much power with his voice when he sings, and a majority of his songs are interwoven with a balance of slow numbers within upbeat tracks. Check out his most recent music video, titled “Fool’s Gold,” off of his latest EP, Indiana, here.

Dayglow

A Texas native, Sloan Struble, under Dayglow, also played SXSW for the first time in 2019 and will be playing ACL for the first time as a Weekend Two only artist. Releasing his debut album last September, the teen has already amassed millions of plays on his bedroom-pop style songs. Originally a University of Texas at Austin student, Struble, however, will not be making a debut on campus this fall but will be on tour with COIN. Check out his music video for “Hot Rod” off of his debut album, Fuzzybrain, here.

Palm Springsteen

Los Angeles’ Palm Springsteen, led by singer/frontman Nick Hinman, will be making their Austin debut at ACL this year. Describing themselves as “blow-pop in space,” their upbeat, funky-electronic tunes characterized by bouncy bass and driving guitar, is reminiscent of older groovy tunes but still maintains its modernity. Their high energy sound makes them an act you wouldn’t want to miss this year at ACL. Check out their music video for “Sister Sister” their latest single, here.
