LIVE REVIEW: BLACKPINK Brings Their ‘In Your Area’ Tour To Atlanta.

Date:

What/who is BLACKPINK? The answer is simple: America’s current biggest girl group from South Korea.

Consisting of four members, Rosé, Jisoo, Lisa, and Jennie, the quartet has conquered the U.S. charts higher than any other K-Pop girl group. There is no doubt that BLACKPINK is truly becoming America’s newest sensation. Their latest EP “Kill This Love” landed at No. 24 on the Billboard 200, while its main single of the same name landed on the Hot 100 right at No. 41. With a unique sound that mixes both pop and hip-hop, there’s no surprise why the girls are killing the charts.

With no surprise, the girls of BLACKPINK performed to a sold out crowd tonight here in Atlanta. As several fans waited for doors to open at the Infinite Energy Arena, it was hard not to notice how diverse the crowd was. Ranging from all ages and sexual orientations, the diverse crowd gave a bigger understanding of how big BLACKPINK truly is. Coming all the way from South Korea, the talented quartet has been able to win the hearts of several within the United States Of America.

Diving straight into last year’s hit “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,” the girls were welcomed with loud cheers as fans ignited the arena with their hammer bongs (BLACKPINK’s official lightstick). While the quartet dominated the stage with impressive choreography and live vocals, the arena trembled as fans chanted along. With a smooth transition, the girls kept the action going as they performed “Forever Young.” Taking a small breather, the girls took the opportunity to introduce themselves to the crowd. Astonished by how their American fans were singling along to every single word, the girls promised to give their best in return.

As the night continued, the girls were able to demonstrate their talents individually mid way into the show. Demonstrating her unique voice, Rosé took the stage as she performed a medley of ballads. Capturing the hearts of many, Rosé soared high throughout her emotional performance. Taking the opportunity to show off her dancing, Lisa took over the stage. Seducing the crowd as she danced to Miso’s “Take Me,” Lisa effortlessly had all eyes on her as she increased the temperature with Jason Derulo’s “Swalla.” Switching spots, Jisoo sat on a throne of pearls as she performed a rendition of  Zedd’s “Clarity.” Showcasing her English vocals, Jisoo constantly interacted with the crowd as she waved or sent hearts throughout the venue. Bringing the solo stages to an end, Jennie performed her debut solo song, “Solo,” as the venue quickly erupted with screams of approval. With sassy choreography and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, Jennie effectively showed off her personalty. While BLACKPINK is known for being an extremely talented quartet, each member effectively demonstrated the star potential that each one of them holds.

As the excitement continued throughout the night, BLACKPINK’s stage production was no joke. With impressive lights, astonishing visuals, and a full live band, the four members truly hosted a one of kind concert experience. A night filled with constant bangers such as their biggest hit “Kill This Love,” and fan favorites like “Playing With Fire,” and “Boombayah,” allowed fans to experience an unforgettable night. As the nightly quickly approached its end, one can only hope that BLACKPINK will be back in Atlanta very soon. There is no denying that BLACKPINK has truly left their mark here in America. Arguably being one of the biggest girl groups to ever exist, one can only imagine whats to come from BLACKPINK in the upcoming years. The girls will be finishing their “In Your Area” North American tour dates this upcoming May 8th in Fort Worth, Texas before heading out to Europe. Catch them while you still can, for this is a must-attend event.
