LIVE REVIEW: DAY6 Electrifies Atlanta With “Youth” Tour

Date:

Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre: Atlanta, GA

With a simplistic stage filled with lights that bursted into several colors throughout the night, the 5-piece band captivated the Atlanta crowd with their talent and charm.

As Sungjin smooth vocals transcended through the room, blue light engulfed the Cobb Energy Performing Art Centre as the band started the night with “I Smile,” one of their singles from their first album “Sunrise.” With fans quickly recognizing the song, fans sang along as Jae’s, Young K’s, and Wonpil’s vocals were showcased as well. With clear and expressive vocals from each singing member, the audience watched in awe as the band transitioned into their second song of the night, “First Time.”

With a few songs into the evening, the band took some time to interact with the crowd. Despite some of the members not being able to speak English fluently, their infectious charm was still present. With a huge grin, Sungjin proclaimed that the Atlanta crowd was “Sooooooooo good,” while Dowoon shouted, “I love Atlanta, it’s very awesome!” The crowd shouted and screamed in response and a few of them even swooned, screaming as loud as they possibly could in attempt to show their love for the band. Receiving so much love from the crowd, the members stared in shock as they once again informed their fans how grateful they were to be in Atlanta.

As the night progressed, it was hard to ignore the marvelous stage effects that joined DAY6. With confetti cannons bursting every once in awhile, lasers were constantly shooting from the stage. Despite having several rays of light constantly beaming, the members were never lost in the colorful chaos. With the big screen constantly showing closeups of each member, DAY6’s personalties shined just as brightly. This was especially the case as things slowed down. As the members gave an emotional performance of their song “I Need Somebody,” DAY6 demonstrated how versatile they truly are.

Following “How Can I Say  the band took some time to perform some of their more poppy songs “Like That Sun” and “Be Lazy — both of which made the ground shake as fans jumped and danced, screaming the lyrics to the songs at the top of their lungs.

With quite an impressive setlist, it was an impossible for a fan to be disappointed as the band interchangeably jumped from old to new hits.

As the night came to an end, DAY6 did a marvelous job in showcasing both their love for their fans and their passion to perform. A night filled with so much excitement and passion, it became quite hard to not fall in love with the five members. With this just being their first world tour, one can only hope that DAY6 will be back soon.
