LIVE REVIEW: Residente Electrifies Atlanta On His US Tour

Date:

Having already won several Grammys, and sold hundreds of thousands of records, the Puerto Rican rapper Residente brought his US Tour to Atlanta earlier this past week.

As doors opened, fans quickly claimed their spots in Buckhead Theatre. Several attendees were seen waving flags of their home country, revealing the rapper’s diverse fan base.

With no opener for his tour, fans chanted “Residente,” over and over as the start time approached. With loud drums, flashing lights, and constant screams from the crowd, the rapper made his grand entrance performing the lead single of his debut solo album. As he performed “Somos Anormales” (“We Are Abnormal”), constant energy flowed throughout the venue. As the rapper constantly jumped from side to side, the audience reciprocated that exact energy by rapping along to every single word with Residente. The excitement stayed as Residente transitioned into “Baile De Los Pobres” (“The Dance of The Poor”), taking the crowd back to his Calle 13 days.

As fans sang and danced throughout the night, the atmosphere of the venue became a place on unity thanks to the Puerto Rican rapper. As Residente informed the crowd how his recent album came to be: The rapper traveled around the world to make music guided by his DNA. Learning about different cultures, he realized how amazing humans really are.

With so much racial tension in the states, the rapper acknowledged how times have been tough for certain people. Residente was applauded as he said that he accepted everyone no matter of race, gender, and sexual preference. Based on his travels, he told the crowd that the United States was not the only location with hate, and that it was time for everyone to be treated as equals and that there are no borders. With constant heads nodding in agreement, Residente dedicated his song “Pa’l Norte” (“To The North”) to all the immigrants of the world.

As the night progressed, the set list was set to please both old and new fans. Performing iconic, past hits such as “Atrévete-te-te” and “Vamo’ a portarnos mal,” Residente had the crowd loving every single moment. The highly acclaimed rapper for sure knows how to entertain a crowd, and we can not wait to see what’s to come for the remainder of the tour. With several stops throughout September and mid October, there is plenty of time for you to catch this amazing show. Take my word, buy a ticket for you will love every single moment.
