Having just finished a record-breaking, four-year Las Vegas residency, Britney Spears adapted her show to be performed in various select cities across Asia, North America, and Europe. With the North American leg coming to an end this weekend, Britney Spears brings the Piece of Me Tour to the Seminole Hard Rock with three back to back shows.
As several fans quickly rushed into the venue, the theatre bursted into a loud roar as the dancers marched onto the stage. With the use of ominous music and impressive light-work, the star of the night makes her grand introduction. Starting off with a fan favorite, “Work Bitch,” the audience sang along as Britney dominated the stage. With impressive choreography, Britney and her dancers set an exciting tone for the remainder of the night. Continuing the high intensity, the Pop star smoothly transitioned into performing her hit “Womanizer.” The sold-out venue kept on dancing and singing as Britney Spears replicated that energy back into the crowd. Constantly smiling, the excited Britney asked the crowd how they were feeling. Wanting more excitement, she asked the audience once more causing the venue to shake and tremble.
Giving a mature, updated sound to a soon-to-be 20 year old hit, “…Baby One More Time,” the dramatic performance of the classic hit had the crowd go berserk as they relived the past. Continuing with the darker tones and the expressive choreography to a nostalgic song, Britney sang the instantly recognizable chorus of “Oops I did It Again.” With the revamping of two classic songs, Britney presented something new and refreshing while also teleporting us back into the past.
With a revamped tour that is very similar to her Las Vegas residency, the Pop Icon brought new additions to the set list: “Clumsy,” and “Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes).” As the audience members captured the moment on their smart phones, both Britney and the dancers had the crowed in awe with the high intensity choreography. With Britney giving it her all, there’s no denying that she is still one of the top performers in today’s society. With a set list consisting of numerous past hits, Britney Spears was (and is) able to grab the audience’s full attention with the addition of these two new songs.
There’s no denying that Britney Spears is an amazing performer, but she herself will not be the only reason why you will fall in love with this show. Recreating the effects from the Vegas residency, last night’s show was still packed with amazing lights, dance interludes, and costume changes. Several beams of beautiful, synchronized lights are shown throughout the show. As Britney and her dancers went to change outfits, the backdrops revealed stunning visuals keeping the audience distracted as they waited for the next song to start.
With such high production value, a personal fave would have to be when the whole venue went neon during the “Scream and Shout” interlude and smoothly transitioned into the “Boys” performance. The venue filled up of light beams that made everything appear holographic, while the male dancers cartwheeled and flipped around the stage. This moment allowed the venue to transform into the most magical, neon rave that there could ever exist.
With constant excitement throughout the show, Britney kept everyone on their toes from start to end. From having a male audience member crawl on all fours while being spanked playfully, to having Britney twirl on a stripper pole for “I’m a Slave 4 U,” the excitement was never ending throughout this party show.
As the North American leg comes to an end tomorrow, it is highly recommended to attend the final show for you will love every single moment. For the European fans, get ready.
