American singer/songwriter Hayley Kiyoko stopped in Atlanta on her Expectations Tour on Friday night. She put on a very intimate and personal show for the huge crowd that filled the venue to its capacity.
Hayley draws a huge and diverse crowd. Being that she is openly apart of the LGBTQ+ community, she is a huge inspiration to many and represents something much bigger. Her music expresses the reality, triumphs and struggles alike, of being gay. This makes her a very interesting and timely artist because she is willing to openly express herself on all platforms, specifically her music which creates a sense of comfort and acceptance for others who are also LGBTQ+.
She opened the show with Under the blue/Taken Me In, and from the very beginning, she was full of energy and ready to get the night started. She had unique and fun dance moves, and she utilized the entire stage. She was always moving and it was obvious that she was having a great time and loving every second. This is how she was the entire night only stopping to take in the love from her fans. She also sang one of her fan favorites What I need, which really got the crowd going and was followed by Girls Like Girls, one of her anthems for the LGBTQ+ community. She sang the majority of “Expectations” on her setlist of 17 songs, including an encore.
Overall, Hayley put on a very upbeat and fun show that had the whole crowd on their feet and jumping all night. It was very inspiring to see how connected she is with her fans and how important her message is to them. After making her debut on Disney Channel’s Lemonade Mouth in 2011, Hayley has grown as an artist and is definitely an artist to watch as she makes a bigger impact on the music industry both with her music and what she stands for.
It’s highly recommended that you try to catch her on the rest of her tour and check out her album “Expectations” if you haven’t already. Check out some photos from the tour below:
